The Ombelle shawl is a pretty crescent shawl in brioche knitting !
It was inspired by my son’s botany lessons on umbellifers.

Yarn

You need a fingering yarn for CC1 and fingering or lace yarn for CC2.

I used for my sample Peregrine (100% Est-A-Laine Merino) and Maugerie Mohair de Chambord (80% mohair / 20% silk)

You will need the following quantities:

CC1: CLK Peregrine (100% Est-A-Laine Merino) 388 m / 100 g approx. 510 m
CC2: Les Mohairs de Chambord Maugerie (80% mohair, 20% silk) 200 m / 50 g approx. 460 m

Gauge

22 sts / 28 rows in stockinette st per 10 cm/4” in the round after blocking, with 3.25 mm needles

Notions

  • 4 mm (US 6) 100 cm (40″) circ needles
  • 5 mm (US 8) 100 cm (40″) circ needles
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers if needed
  • Cable needle (for decreases)

Construction

This shawl starts with a garter tab cast-on, with increases along the edges and in sections to give it a crescent shape.
