You will often find this stitch in lace or when there is a need for a little decoration.
It is mainly done on 1*1 ribs like here on the Ho Oden Shawl or on 2*2 ribs.
It can be done on a multiple of 2 m. + 1 or on a multiple of 4 m. + 2

How to smocking?
Place the yarn in front of your work.
Then slip the recommended number of stitches onto a spare needle.
Wrap these stitches two or three times with the yarn as in the video below, making sure the yarn is not too tight.
Then, knit the stitches on the auxiliary needle as recommended (in 1*1 or 2*2 rib).
