Poppy Sweater

Description

The Poppy Sweater is a light and airy sweater knitted from soft and fluffy yarn.
The combination of slipped stitches on stockinette stitch and reverse stockinette stitch creates a waffle effect that transforms the appearance of the speckles, resulting in a unique, textured finish.
A comfortable, modern pattern with plenty of texture.

Yarn

You need a bulky yarn to knit it.

I used SANDNES GARN Poppy (50% alpaca superfine, 35% cotton,15% merino) 110 m /  50 g . You need approx. 894 [1018, 1152][1255, 1390][1496, 1662, 1818] m or 9 [10, 11][12, 13][14, 16, 17] balls color Autumn Leaf.

Gauge

16 sts / 28 Rds in Textured Motif per 10 cm/4” in the round after blocking, with 5 mm needles

Notions

• 5 mm (US 8) 60 cm (32'') circ needle for body
• 5 mm (US 8) 100 cm (40'') circ needle for fronts and back
• Set of 5 mm (US 8) or needles for your preferred method of small circumference knitting for sleeves
• Set of 3.75 mm (US 5) or needles for your preferred method of small circumference knitting for cuffs
• 1 tapestry needle
• 4 markers if necessary.
• 4 Removable markers

Construction

This sweater is worked top down.
First, the back is worked flat to the armholes.
You will then pick up stitches along the shoulders to work the front pieces separately while creating the V-neck.
Once the front pieces are finished, you will join the back and front pieces to form the body, which you will knit in the round.
The body is finished with a large open ribbing on the sides.
The sleeves are then picked up along the front and back sides and worked in a textured motif to the cuffs.
This sweater is worn with a positive ease of 15-22 cm.
