Yarn

You need a sport / DK plant based yarn to knit this bag.

I used Natissea Pernelle (100 % hemp) 190 m / 250 g.
Small bag: ecru color approximately 380 m
Large bag: caramel color approximately 540 m
Glasses case: natural color approximately 100 m

Gauge

18 stitches / 20 rows in herringbone stitch for 10 cm after blocking

Notions

  • 2 pairs of 2.75 mm circ. needles
  • 1 pair of 3.25 mm circ. needles
  • 1 tapestry needle
  • 16 markers (or more if needed)
  • Scissors
  • Vliesline Style-VIl (for bag’s bottom)
  • Vliesline Fusible Interlining H 250 (for the lining ‘s bottom)
  • Bizonne fabric 55% linen, 45% cotton 290 g / m² for lining
  • 3 cm Leatherette strap, approx. 40 cm (1 m) long (bags)
  • 10 cm click clack metal clasp (case)

Final measurements

For bags: Approximately 19 (29) cm in diameter by 23 (30) cm in height
For the glasses case: Approximately 10 cm wide by 17.5 cm high

Construction

This bag is knitted by starting with the bottom of the bag. You will knit two bottoms that you will join together to then make the body of the bag. You will finish with a wide stockinette stitch band that you will sew onto the lining of the bag.
The pattern includes a version without embroidery and a version with embroidery. You can choose the chart according to your preference.
